Asinara National Park, we know it as a Sardinian island, or for the prison, but it is also protected by this beautiful park that extends between sea and land, since 1997, the year in which it was established by decree, on November 28th. Asinara National Park: extension

As a peculiarity, there is the magpie Pica Pica, brought by some inmates and bred as a pet, and among the 11 species of mammals present, in addition to the mouflons introduced in the 1950s, there are wild boar and donkeys. Plural because there is the Sardinian gray one and the characteristic white donkey of Asinara.

Asinara National Park: flora

Among the flora of the Asinara National Park and the Sardinian one in a broader sense there are no great differences. Along the rocky coasts, there is low vegetation where the sea ​​fennel, the gorse of the cliffs and the limonium with acute leaves. Where there is a bit of sand, here is the weed of the beaches, the pungent esparto, the santolina of the beaches and the sea lily.

As for forests, there is not much in the Asinara National Park due to the invasion of the pastures, the Mediterranean scrub resists with the Phoenician juniper and the euphorbia which is among other things toxic.
